Ministry Essentials

It is our desire to honor God's Word at Grace Church of Mentor. God's expectation of the local church is to proclaim the good news of Christ to the world. We do this first by preaching Christ in our worship. Second, we individually live for Christ in our community. As people come to know Christ, Grace Church is ready to spiritually mentor each person to become more like their Savior. Part of spiritual mentoring is helping Christians to know and understand their Bibles. As a person grows in their understanding of the Bible, they will begin to minister from their study and personal growth to others in the church community. When people are active in personal Bible study and spiritual maturity, and then minister to one another the Word of God, the church community will enjoy the fruits of spiritual maturity and love.

Jesus promised to build His church in Matthew 16:18. The letters of the New Testament reveal how the church is to function as Christ builds His church. When a local church endeavors to worship and minister according to God's Word, God honors that. At GCM, we have seen hundreds come to Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Many have seen empty religious activity as inadequate for their spiritual fulfillment. They have recognized that good works do not satisfy their own souls or God's expectations. God expects people to come to Him in His way. Jesus is the way to God (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). God freely demonstrated His love to mankind by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sin (Romans 5:8). When you realize that your good works don't satisfy God, and when you come to understand that Christ died for your sin, you are ready to become part of His family. But, you must receive Christ's payment for your sin on the cross (John 1:12). You must turn from your sin and trust Christ as your Savior. You must surrender your life to Him, and make Him Lord of your life.

Our goal at GCM is to share the good news of Christ's salvation to every soul in our city of Mentor and Lake county (Acts 1:8). As we lovingly live and declare Christ, God will grow our church in Mentor.

Churches today attempt many creative things to get people interested in church. A godly man said, "What you win people with you win them to." This is true. Our goal at GCM is not to "hide" the loving good news of Christ from folks when we first meet them. When we invite folks to church, we are not inviting them to a social, carnival, festival, rummage sale, or spaghetti dinner. We love people enough to invite them know Christ's love.

So when you come to Grace Church of Mentor, you will not experience a "bait and switch". We won't bait you with a "How to Be A Good Parent" seminar only to get you in and share Jesus with you. We will love and minister to you for Christ's sake.

A loving family where you can belong awaits you at Grace Church of Mentor. Please be our guests any time and know that you are always welcome.
