God has special and unique opportunity for women in the church. You don't have to read long in the Scriptures to notice how the Lord used godly women for His glory. Think of the Proverbs 31 lady. What a godly example of industrious and domestic integrity. I'm sure that her accolades in scripture are based on her whole life, not just on a small stage of life-- maybe the one you are in and are feeling overwhelmed!
Have you ever considered the ladies in Christ's life and ministry? Mary, Elizabeth, Mary Magdalene, and others were instrumental in caring for and spiritually supporting the ministry of our Lord on earth. Lydia in Acts 16 was the first convert to Christ in Europe. Without the Philippian church and Lydia's early influence, there may not have been a church in Europe or the Western world as we know it today. Think of Acts 17 and the church in Thessalonica. The Bible tells us that this church was initially made up of mostly women. A number of them were influential in their community for Christ's sake. Paul is very clear to state the vital and spiritual importance of Timothy's grandmother and mother in his spiritual growth. Lois and Eunice taught Timothy the word from the time he was an infant. As a result Timothy became born again when he was a young boy and grew to be the mature, young pastor at one of Asia Minor's most influential churches in Ephesus. There is not record that Timothy's father was saved. See what the Lord can do through godly women.
Finally, Titus 2 and 1 Timothy 5 both teach us of the godly role that women take in the church. These passages clearly teach that the local church is dependant on women of spiritual maturity. Older, spiritual women are to lead the way for the younger ladies in the church unto great Christ likeness. We are passionate at GCM about allowing women to spiritually thrive and minister. Consider joining our ladies ministry as we seek to honor Christ through the fulfilling of our church mission:
Grace Church of Mentor exists to glorify God by evangelizing the lost and equipping the saints with the goal of Christlikeness.
How can women get involved in GCM and connect with the women God has brought here? GCM holds a weekly women's only spiritual mentoring ministry. Join the small group setting or begin in a one-on-one mentoring connection. We have monthly activities ranging from Coffee with Friends casual fellowship and discussion to a Dinner Party. Annually we hold a Ladies Servants in Training Weekend conference to get away the typical home and work surroundings for an evening and a morning to develop friendships, grow spiritually and refresh our tired, busy lives. Furthermore, we hold two Ladies Bible Studies. Held in six week units, the Bible studies are designed to be spiritual energy bars that are scheduled in the morning or evening and during reasonable times of year, avoiding the busy holiday and school seasons and the freedom of summer.
We are continuously adding new areas of ministry also. First, we have added Make-A-Meal Night where ladies can gather for fellowship while they combine their efforts in making casseroles for their families and one for the freezer at church for times when a courtesy meal is needed! A second new ministry for women is the Secret Prayer Pals. Beginning at our annual Servants in Training weekend ladies can sign up to be a secret prayer pal. A monthly note of encouragement or a small token of concern can refresh the soul in many ways. Knowing that someone is praying for you and your personal requests may be the very thought that carries you through a difficult day. We want our ladies to pray and encourage one another. We begin secretly for fun and to create a good habit, but our goal is to form life-long encouraging friendships. The reveal will be held in September!
