Mission & Activities
Purpose
Great Lakes Bible Institute (GLBI), a ministry of Grace Church of Mentor, exists to equip believers for Christian service through biblical instruction and hands-on ministry opportunities, grounded in the belief that Christ is building His church and has gifted evangelists and pastor-teachers for this purpose. With a staff of experienced and academically trained pastors, GLBI emphasizes the importance of spiritual growth, practical application, and doctrinal integrity, rejecting ecumenical compromises and modern movements that stray from biblical truth. Students engage in various ministries—from preaching and teaching to evangelism and music—while being trained to uphold sound doctrine and live separated from worldly influences. GLBI welcomes anyone seeking personal edification or ministry preparation, offering a Christ-centered environment rooted in Scripture and service.

Christology: The Doctrine of Christ – taught by Mike Hixson
Schedule: Monday evenings, March 2 to May 11.
Cost: $25
Class Overview:
Who is Jesus Christ—and why does it matter? This adult class explores the person and work of Jesus from a historic Protestant Evangelical perspective, helping believers deepen both their theological understanding and their worship.
We will examine the essential truths of biblical Christology: Christ’s full deity and full humanity, the meaning of the Incarnation, His sinless life, substitutionary atonement, bodily resurrection, ascension, and present reign. We will also consider how the early church clarified these doctrines in response to heresy and how the Reformers articulated Christ’s saving work by grace alone.
In addition, the class will address important modern debates—such as challenges to Christ’s exclusivity, questions about the Gospels, and contemporary views of the atonement. Participants will be equipped to think biblically and speak confidently about Jesus in today’s culture.
