“Thy Kingdom Come:” The End Times and the Future Reign of Christ – taught by Mike Hixson

Class Overview:

In history, certain Christian doctrines garner more attention because of world events. Currently, the Church has shown a great amount of interest in the “end times.” Often called “eschatology,” this study is foundational to understanding how the story of the Bible ends. Will evil prevail? Will Christ actually return like He said He would? This course provides a biblical and systematic study of eschatology from a conservative evangelical standpoint, arguing from a pretribulational, premillennial perspective but also introducing students to the major alternative approaches to eschatological interpretation and demonstrating the biblical and theological reasons for a premillennial understanding. Topics include human death, the intermediate state, the Rapture, Tribulation, Antichrist, Second Coming of Christ, Millennial Kingdom, final judgment of Satan and fallen humanity, and the eternal state. Emphasis is placed on biblical interpretation, key prophetic passages, and the practical significance of Christ’s return and the believer’s hope of eternal life.
